(GER/Elmshorn) The 2022 Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH sales year has got underway. The 36th spring auction saw Calido I offspring Calitino become the most expensive lot. Knocked down for 54,000 euros in the online auction sale, he is going to be based in an Italian sport stable.

Interest spiked for lot No 2, Calitino by Calido I-Caretino from mare family 104 A, with the XL sized four-year-old grey gelding’s dam being no other than Caretana BB, who used to be successfully shown up to 1.50m level by Niklaus Schurtenberger and has already produced a licensed son, Casello by Casalito. “The mare family’s performance in competition gives reason for hope for a promising show jumping career”, executive director and auction manager Roland Metz was pleased to say. The second-most expensive lot was hip No 5, Vermicelle b by Vagabond de la Pomme-Clarimo. The big-framed mare born in 2017 not only boasts results in young horse jumping classes herself but her dam has been placed at S level as well. The virtual hammer for this mare fell at 41,000 euros with the bidding won by German clients. Four other horses broke the 30,000 euro mark: at 36,000 euros the Million Dollar-Coriano daughter Kontiki, lot No 8, is going to move to Great Britain. Lot No 6, Californication VLN by Diamant de Semilly-Clearway, also put up a very interesting presentation. The grey mare is not only precious in view of her recently dead sire, but also her dam Colina was successfully shown to international 1.50m level. Californication VLN changed hands at 34,000 euros. Casall-Cambridge offspring Cookie performed convincingly under saddle himself and boasts high-achieving relatives: his new owners succeeded in the auction with the winning bid at 33,500 euros. Lot No 1, Lilith by Diarado-Cassini I, was worth 31,500 euros to her new owners. “With a lot of the horses staying in Germany to be produced at show jumping and eventing stables, we will certainly see and hear about them in competition in the future“, Roland Metz resumed. The average price for the 28 horses sold was about 21,500 euros.
